For Kefta balls:

500 gms minced beef

1 cup parsley (chopped)

½ cup onions (chopped fine)

3 cloves (minced) garlic

1 green pepper

Salt and pepper to season

For the Sauce

3 tomatoes chopped

1 onion chopped

2 garlic cloves (minced)

2 tbsp tomato paste

2 cups water

1 tsp paprika

Salt & pepper to season

Noor Oil for deep frying



This dish is one that kids enjoy as much as adults for its fresh ingredients and spices and at the same time they all hide inside the meatballs making it a simple looking delicious creation for everyone to enjoy. As a child I would be sitting watching cartoons and waiting for lunch time to come while my mother cooked this for us with a lot of passion. 

Steps Involved:

Mix and knead all the ingredients under Kefta balls namely, minced beef, garlic, onion, parsley, salt and pepper till it is well incorporated, roll the minced mix and cut into medium sized balls and set them aside.

Note: Rub Noor Oil on palm to prevent the mix from sticking to your hands.

Take a wide frying pan and place it on medium fire, with some Noor Oil in it. Drop the meat balls made above and allow it to brown on all sides. Keep these fried meat balls aside for a while.

Take a flat bottomed pan and place it on a medium fire, pour some Noor Oil in the pan and when hot, toss in onion, garlic and sauté nicely. When the onion is soft, add tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, season well with salt and pepper and top it with water and let it simmer on a low heat.

Once the sauce is done, add the fried meat balls to it and cook for several minutes. 

To prepare white rice, add two cups of washed rice into water into a bowl and allow it to soak for 10 minutes. Put a dash of oil in a sauce pan and place on medium fire and add the drained rice into it. Stir quickly to make sure that the rice does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle some salt, top the pan with water to 1cm above the level of the rice. Allow to cook and simmer till rice is well cooked.


Serve hot piping rice with the meat balls in sauce, sprinkling some oregano on top.
