Mother’s Day is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world. In theMiddle East it falls in March, while in the United States it is celebrated in May.
I moved to Dubai after my marriage, 10 years ago. My brothers moved here much before me. I don’t remember ever celebrating Mother’s Day. In my childhood days I used to draw a card for my mom and laterwhen I was at university I used to buy her flowers or get her favourite cake from a special cake shop in Amman.
Coincidentally, my mother happened to bein Dubai on Mother’s Day on March 21stand it was a Friday too. I didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes, so I discussed with my family and we decided to have a surprise lunch party with just family and a few close friends. We planned on sharing little presents for all moms and a little something for our special Mom.
What we really wanted to do was to express all the gratitude in our hearts, to make her feel really special and give her the love and attention she truly deserves.
March 21st dawned bright and beautiful. I could feel the love in the air. All her grandsons were thrilled about the party too. The best part was that my mom was really surprised and thrilled about the whole celebration. I felt remorseful that we’d never done thisbefore but I am hoping to make this a tradition – to celebrate myMom as often as I can!
