We travel the world in search of the ultimate gourmet destinations -to discoverthe many unique flavours that make up the culinary identity of a place.
Whenever I travel with my family or with my friends, I always make it a point to savour the best dishes and ingredients of a country.
This year I have travelled to Austria and Czech Republic where I have tasted and enjoyed their most popular dishes, especially the street food.
MyViennese food journey started at @figlmuller restaurant, the home of schnitzel for more than 100 years. They make sure that all their schnitzels turn out thin and crispy.Every piece is carefully and expertly pounded with a mallet until the schnitzel measures exactly30 centimeters in diameter, before frying it. I have tried the beef schnitzel; it was so delicious that I went back for it several times.
Vienna is also famous for its cakes. One of its most famous cakesis the Original Sacher-Torte. This has been the most famous cake in the world since 1832 and the original recipe remains a well-kept secret of Hotel Sacher. Only the Original Sacher-Torte is still made according to this secret recipe. The base of this delicious confectionery is a chocolate cake, thinly coated by hand with the best-quality apricot jam. The chocolate icing on top of it is the crowning glory of this gateau and tastes best with a swirl of unsweetened whipped cream.
I will never be able to forget the taste of Sacher-Torte; itistruly a piece of heaven on a plate!
